It is the last day of February, and the word on my mind is ‘Gracious.’ What does it mean to be gracious; who is gracious, and what does a gracious person do? The word gracious carries the imagery of politeness, respectfulness, good manners, consideration, leniency, etc. God is the epitome of graciousness! The Bible describes our God in Psalm 145:8 NKJV saying, “the Lord is gracious and full of compassion slow to anger and great in mercy.” So, when thinking about a gracious person, I focus on a kind, courteous person in speech and demeanor, with a high sense of good taste (regal), pleasant, respectful, and polite in how they interact with others.
So, our God, in his graciousness, is forgiving, loving, caring, and merciful. In short, a gracious person is a delight to have around you because they shower you with the goodness inherent in them. They do not carry grudges or records of offenses because even when you offend them, they graciously forgive and embrace you with loving arms.
Even as February is almost over, I pray that you will receive kindness, goodness, love, forgiveness, mercy, and abundance from this God who has a greater capacity to love. Yet again, because our God is graciously full of mercy and compassion, even when we do not deserve it, may He forgive, cover, protect, shield, and keep us all secure in His gracious, loving arms!
Being gracious is a blessing, so choose to be gracious to yourself, family, friends, colleagues, associates, and all, and our world will be a better place! Remember, God loves us so much. So until yet another February, goodbye, February.
